Record Sixth Wicket Stand For England

Eoin Morgan and Michael Yardy set up a new record for the sixth wicket position against Pakistan in Twenty-20 cricket by adding 67 runs in the first Twenty-20 match at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Sunday (September 5).
They erased the previous best of 29 between James Foster and Dimitri Mascarenhas at Kennington Oval, London on June 7, 2009.
Eoin Morgan and Michael Yardy’s stand was England’s second best in Twenty-20 cricket after 69-run stand between Owais Shah and Dimitri Mascarenhas against West Indies at The Oval on June 29,2007.
** Shahid Afridi became the third Pakistani and 13th batsman overall to score 600 runs in Twenty-20 cricket. The Pakistani skipper achieved this feat by making 16 off 14 balls with one four. It was 34th innings of his 36th match in Twenty-20 cricket. Kamran Akmal (693 runs in 32 innings of 37 matches) and Shoaib Malik (636 runs in 31 innings of 32 matches) were the other two Pakistani batsmen to reach this milestone before him.
** Pakistan recorded their lowest total against England by making 126 for four in 20 overs. Their previous lowest was 129 for 8 in 20 overs at Dubai on February 19, 2010.
** Luke Wright became the first Englishman and seventh batsman overall to receive four or more ducks in Twenty-20 cricket. Luke Wright’s fourth duck came in the 22nd innings of 26th match. Dimitri Mascarenhas who was failed to open his account on three occasions in 13 innings of 14 matches, held the previous record for England. West Indian Andre Fletcher holds the ‘unwanted record’ of most ducks in Twenty-20 cricket with five ducks in 14 innings of as many matches. South African Herschelle Gibbs and Jean-Paul Duminy, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal received four ducks each.
** Michael Yardy dismissed Fawad Alam on his own bowling. It was his first caught and bowled in 11 Twenty-20 matches. His unbeaten 35 off 26 balls with four fours was the highest score in this form of cricket surpassing the unbeaten 24 against the same opponent at Bristol on August 28, 2006.
** Michael Yardy received his maiden man of the match award in 11 Twenty-20 matches.
